what paid listings should you choose ?
When it comes to links into your website, sooner or later you’ll going to have to pay for some of them. Not for PR improvements per se but just because some of the most important areas to get links are paid sources. Here are some of the best paid listings to think about (we are not endorsing any of these methods, just areas to consider):
business.com - annual listing $199 (used to be free then $99 per year) - a fair few people actually use business.com to search for companies. Business.com also use a pay per click module but the directory listing is $199 - usually these are on high PR pages. One of our sites used to be a PR6 and went back to PR5 after we pulled the business.com listing. Check them out.
yahoo.com - annual listing $299 (used to be free) - this is a massive amount of money and you have to be 100% sure you want this. We have seen no improvement in SERPS because of this listing for one of our sites. Additionally there is limited traffic from the directory itself.
bcentral.com - annual listing $49 - you get 5 backlinks to your site from the Microsoft small business directory (sbd) - although traffic is limited there may be a small boost in serps - definately worth it.
Alternatively you can avoid the business.com and yahoo.com fees of $498 per year and buy some of your own text links on high PR high volume websites - probably better going for this option to get some highly targeted traffic of your own and manage your own paid listings.
