check if your site is banned
Here’s how to check if your site is banned in the search engines.
You may wonder why your site is not in the search engine results or why it has suddenly disappeared from view. The search engines may ban your site for many reasons but don’t confused this will poor rankings.
You can be sure your site is banned if:
- the google pr in your google toolbar is “greyed out” - normally a new site has a pr of 0 and the bar is just white - no green at all. when something goes wrong google will make the entire bar just grey
- do a search for your site - just type in your url into the google search box - if it comes back and says there is no information available for the url specified you could be banned - of course it might just be that you have a new site and google hasn’t found it yet to put into its index - but if you have an old site that did have rankings and nothing appears when you type in your url, then you are in trouble
- do a site search in google for your website - ie: type in “site:www .yourdomain.com” - again as above, if nothing comes up and you don’t have a new site then you are in trouble.
There are many reasons google will abn a site and it’s generally because you haven’t adhered to the google guidelines. Mainly hidden text and sneaky re-directs are the biggest google no-no’s but other things will get you a ban.
