The best SEO forums

There are many SEO forums on the internet and some are better than others - but what forums are out there for SEO that are actually going to help you?

Before I delve into that you have to be careful. Not all the advice you will see is fact. So when you are browsing and someone comes in and answers a question it might not be the truth. The only way to find out if it is the truth is to be on the forums for a while to see which people are always praised for their insights and that provide real examples.

Here are the best places for SEO advice (apart from here of course !)

www.seobook.com - run by Aaron Wall , Aaron provides some of the best insights into SEO that there are today. Most of this is from his own experiences from his own websites, but he has a knack of going through everything from a completely different point of view.

Most of us SEOs know what works and what doesn’t but Aarons’s writings certainly point out more than the obvious and why think may or may not work. Aaron also has his world famous seo book for sale on his site and it is definately worth a look.

www.webmasterworld.com

This really is frequented by full time webmasters and webmasters of private sites. The great thing about this is because people depend on SEO to pay the bills, they are more demanding and more open than most. On some forums you get many newbies who want instant decisions, but webmasterworld is more discussion about what is happening today.

Matt Cutts also pays a visit now and again to answer questions for when google is doing strange things to their serps. He used to go under the name of “googleguy” but now just posts under his own name.

Also explore the other parts of webmasterworld because it is not just google. The adsense and adwords forums are good to stop by and also the ecommerce forum. There is also a paid section that discusses the same topics but away from prying eyes. I have a subscription to it but really, it wasn’t worth the extra $$$ per year.

http://forums.seochat.com

This used to be THE seo forum for newbies. Many expert SEOs used to frequent this forum and offer the best advice to all newbies. All the latest tactics and changes that google and the other search engines were discussed and the place was a breath of fresh air.

Unfortunately things changed and many of the experts left. For many months nothing really happened and many newbies were left wondering what to do with their sites.

These days some experts have returned, but the volume of posts and expert opinion is lower but most questions do get answered properly. The best place to begin is all the articles that are posted on seochat because these will provide a good grounding in what to do with your site for basic and longer term SEO.

Still worth a visit from time to time.

www.seo-guy.com/forum/

SEO guy was (and probably still is) a moderator on seochat and branched out on his own some years back. SEO guy is Morgan and he runs his seo company in Canada. He and his team really know their stuff and their forum is quite useful. It’s mainly frequented by newbies and Morgan doesn’t post that much but some of the mods over there offer good advice. There is a forum for exchanging on topic links which may prove useful and his seo tutorial still holds well today and is worth the read.

www.teneric.co.uk/forums/

My own forums are really targeted to businesses so that includes SEO. There is a specific SEO forum and free website review forum where you can ask for a review as to why your site ranks (or doesn’t rank) where it is and how to boost everything. This is all free and a lot of my customers from my www.totalwebseo.com product frequent here and tell us their success stories.

I give out as much free advice on my seo forum as needed.
