SEO Trends in 2007 ?

So what will be the SEO trends in 2007 ?

For the last couple of years it really has all been about inbound links. From getting links from just about any source you can images, to links from pages that are about your subject to links from pages that have on topic links pointing to them.

But is that what it is still going to be about to get to the top of the search engines ?

Well I guess it will still be about links - but in the original manner Google began - like a voting system. For example, links from your signature in forums is still a vote for yourself - how will that ever count as a vote for your site ?

Google and the other SEs are constantly improving their algoritms to find correct links where people are actually recommending your site, resource or pages. So genuine pages with links to other resources are going to count.

This is not quite happening today. For example a site I have is enjoying good ranks based on links from blogs ! So although changes are happening (eg: where reciprocal links are not quite as good as they were) most links are still fine.

I think we should be asking the question on how people will find information online. Will you still go to Google to find information? Because that’s where over 80% of people go there and no where else to find information.

That’s where changes will occur - how people find your site. Sites in the future will be mainly video - think TV, not much has moved forward apart from quality and the programmes you watch (although some may argue otherwise). But your PC has the quality of the screen so it’s the quality of the content that will change.

Choosing your TV programme is now online - on the TV itself — you don’t go to the TV times to find what’s on (although people still use those guides) but hit the “sky” button to see what’s on today, or tomorrow. I guess better searches of TV programmes will occur but really no massive forward thinking methods have occurred.

So for at least 2007 I simply recommend still getting ontopic inbound links into your website - 2008 may be different but that’s all we have at the moment.
