what is internet marketing
Well internet marketing is a broad term that describes marketing on the internet.
But I bet you knew that.
Generally marketing in any form comes down to the same thing - that is “identifying and satisfying customer needs for a profit” - all well and good but what forms does internet marketing take ?
First off you have built you website and there are reasons you have your website. That is for conversions. Conversion either to a sale or something else like gathering email addresses.
But to get to that end result there are many stages to go through.
You need to get visitors to your site. You can do this by :
- natural search engine results
- pay per click advertising
- advertising on other websites (links, banners, affiliates)
- word of mouth
- forum links
- blogging
- offline advertising
- article marketing
But once you get people to your site you need to get them to do something.
Navigation is key and you must push people down the path you want them to go. As you only have about 5 seconds to get your new visitor to work out what you are about you have to be 1000% explicit on what you want them to do.
Should they sign up for something
Should they find a product
Or search for something?
Whatever your website purpose (you must have one) you need to ensure your conversion is guided by your own skills.
