You know one of the best ways to get people to your site is to have a signature line in your profile on forums.

Most forums allow links back to your site — and although the weight of a signature link in a forum profile is virtually worthless in terms of pushing your pages up the SERPs ladder people still click on the links.

So how do you maximise your forum links ?

Well first off, post in forums that are on the subject matter for your website. It’s pointless posting in a gardening forum if your site is about teenager health (go to the student forums for that).

You should post regularly rather than once in a while. I have seen a good return from some of the forums I post in.

Ensure your profile signature link protrays a message to encourage people to click. Don’t make it too spammy and don’t put it in odd colours.

Post good replies. If you are thought of as an expert people will naturally click on your link to find out more. Don’t self promote and folks don’t like that so much.

It’s hard work getting visitors from your forum link but it will pay off in the end.
